Over the last decade, Drunken Hearts have carved out their own space in the Country / Americana landscape, blending the heart of folk, the soul of country, and the raw power of rock ‘n’ roll. Originally hailing from Louisiana and raised in Colorado, the band is led by singer-songwriter Andrew McConathy, whose storytelling lyrics and commanding stage presence have been the driving force behind their evolution from an acoustic trio to a five piece rock n’ roll band described as a psychedelic, outlaw-country outfit who evoke the best of songwriters like Townes Van Zandt and Steve Earle colored with classic rock flourishes reminiscent of The Allman Brothers, Neil Young, and Tom Petty” (Tim Newby, Americana-UK).
Formed in 2010, Andrew & Co. have grown from a grassroots bluegrass band into a powerhouse act in the Country / Americana scenes, known for their infectious live shows and genre-defying spirit. Their sound is deeply rooted in the rugged landscapes of the American West, evoking both the solitude of wide-open plains and the grit of small mountain towns. McConathy's songs paint vivid pictures of life’s highs and lows, covering everything from love and heartbreak to resilience and redemption. Drunken Hearts continue to push boundaries with a refined sound that reflects their journey from local Colorado stages to national recognition.
As 2024 unfolds, the band builds off their past efforts with a new collection of songs that capture the complexity of the human experience. McConathy’s introspective songwriting is complemented by the group’s seamless interplay between acoustic and electric guitars, driving rhythms, piano and organ, and rich vocal harmonies. In addition to their musical achievements, the band is known for its commitment to their community and the environment. McConathy, also the founder of Colorado’s Yarmony Festival, has used his platform to support sustainable practices and promote music as a positive force to bring people together. The band’s connection to the land and its people is a constant theme in their music as well as the lives they lead offstage. For more info visit www.thedrunkenhearts.com/about.
